Material Intelligence, Research in Action
Group Exhibition, Beit Benyamini, 2025. Curators: Shira Shoval and Yair Barak
As part of the Material Intelligence project, each artist collaborated with a factory or workshop located in Kiryat Hamelacha, Tel Aviv. Within this framework, I worked with ADIV, a textile printing and embroidery factory. ADIV’s main client is the IDF. Drawing from my familiarity with the factory’s story and from exploring its space, I created the work Tziliya (Shade Structure). The piece resembles a scaled-down military shade tent, constructed from ADIV’s archive of more than 1,800 military unit insignias. Another work that emerged from this project is Wet on Dry—two body towels, on one of which I embroidered the phrase “Wet Drill” and on the other “Dry Drill,” terms taken from military training. These were combined with graphic illustrations inspired by ADIV’s printing plates used in their products. The exhibition was presented at Beit Benyamini and featured eight artists, each of whom collaborated with a different workshop.
